Chances are, if your able to get orchid on Sniper then you should just save up for a sheep stick. What's better than silence? Turning them into a harmless animal that can't do anything.
Orchid is a mid-game item because its many parts are cheap and easy to acquire, while Sheepstick is a late-game item because it consists of very costly parts that are very difficult to build into. In the period that you are farming the scythe, you should have been ganked by the enemy once or twice, thus slowing your farm. But in that time you could have gotten an orchid and start being more useful way earlier.

But orchid give damage amp, attack speed and damage.
1. get a bulky hero in your team, that can soak up damage
2. Mask of Madness
3. Profit
Orchid is mainly good for initiation purposes, which is not what you should do as Sniper.
You should be as far away from the action as possible, so getting the silence quickly on some enemy support/initiator before they can drop their load is very unlikely as a sniper.
Sniper needs to get DPS and while Orchid gives some damage and IAS, there are just way better DPS items in the same price area.
If you need an Orchid, let someone else build it or just pick another hero.
Also keep in mind, that Sniper has a very high INT gain, so having mana should not be an issue with Arcanes on your team and some mana-management.
You are there for physical DPS and not to spam Assassinate.
