I am curious as to why Battlefury is listed as not recommended yet every Ember in the history of Embers that I have seen play, including myself, get a Battlefury.

I came on here because I love Ember. By far my favorite hero in Dota 2, but his build seems so rigid looking for other options.

I go in this exact order and in these usual times barring an awesome or bad game.

Start - Quelling Blade, Tango, Stout, 2 Branch (sometimes no branches to save for boots)

8-12 minutes - Aquila, Ring of Regen, Phase Boots

16-20 minutes - Battlefury, Phase boots Aquila

I consider that my core at 20 minutes. After that I usually go Daedelus which is common but I wonder what you all would suggest from this point on?

So far I have experimented with Skaadi, BKB when needed which I find awesome, Linkens Sphere and MKB. To be honest my favorite of that group has been Skaadi. The stats make him no longer a total biznatch. Every build for him is a glass cannon build I feel like he can be built differently and still be effective. It would be great if I did not need the Battlefury at all to be honest, but every game I feel like I HAVE to get it.

The item build is good, but you should definitely max flame guard as it gives you the most damage and offensive potential. getting more levels of sleight of fist is next to useless since it gives you the least damage early out of the three. Also, you may want to adjust your skill guild to get more levels of chains, as the recent patch is now in effect, and the chains got nerfed slightly.

Never go poor mans shield for the jungle, read the item. It great for laneing vs harassment since its 100% proc vs hero's. Vs creeps it remains the same as stout. 300g for the agi in the jungle is not worth it.

Ahem. Rejecting Desolator is perhaps a big mistake. I find the armour reduction very helpful with Sleight of Fist. As it deals physical damage, you want to increase the damage output. It also works nicely with Battle Fury, dealing more damage. Stout Shield is very useful to reduce damage by 20 from melee and 10 from range. It is very useful because it makes it up for the fact that Ember Spirit can be easily killed. Why not go up a step further to get a Poor Man Shield? Same thing but with a nice addition of extra Agility early.

Getting Slippers of Agility that early is not good. Ember Spirit needs to survive long enough to get Fire Remnant and to get better items, like Battle Fury - helps with survivability, mana regeneration and adding a cleave and extra damage for the Sleight of Fist. Phase Boots is a must but I don't really go for the Ring of Basilius (Most likely because I'm very cautious) but it is a good item to get. Orb of Venom is only useful in the early games, unless you are planning to get Eye of Skadi.

Vladimir's Offering. Yeah... I don't know about this item. The lifesteal is good but I think you can get better items. Diffusal Blade is good but only for diminishing spellcaster's mana with Sleight of Fist. Magic Wand is good.

Daedelus is an excellent choice. Synergises well with Sleight of Fist with a combination of Battle Fury and Desolator. Sometimes, I even buy 2 just to increase my damage output. Thor's Hammer. I like the extra attack speed, but whenever I use Sleight of Fist, there isn't a Chain Lighting. I'd prefer getting Maelstrom since it provides similar stats. Sange and Yasha, maybe. Monkey King Bar is a good choice. Having an extra 100 magical damage plus with other items and a mini-bash can almost cripple someone. I also like the extra 88 damage.

I like playing Ember Spirit atm and these are things that i found to work on him. First of all, he is quite squishy, so getting a Stout Shield as starting item is recommended. I think upgrading that to a Poor Man's Shield works best. As bastardodentro said, Phase Boots and Ring of Basilius are core. You need the movement speed to secure kills as you dont have the mana to use your ulti everytime to get close enough. That is also why Drum of Endurance works decently on him and it even gives some Int.

Another option instead of Drum and Basilius is an Urn of Shadows. It gives 50% mana regen which scales into late game, it has burst heal and it is cheaper. The only thing is that you miss out of the Int which will give you a lower mana pool for mid game (later you get stats so yea).

I think Battle Fury works wonders on Xin and is almost core. It gives damage, HP regen, Mana regen and cleave which all benefit him. The cleave synergises really well with Sleight of Fist. In contrast with Omnislash, Sleight of Fist and Battle Fury together do more damage when creeps are near the enemy heroes.

After that I am not yet sure which items work on Xin. Maelstrom and Mjollnir work really well with Sleight of Fist but they don't provide survivability. Sange and Yasha is an item I am trying out since it gives DPS, movement speed and HP (its growing onto me more and more now). Other than that there is the possible Black King Bar since Flame Guard doesn't block stuns and some lifesteal ( Vladmir's Offering or Satanic) to get more HP back (also works well with Sleight of Fist). Also, he is really vunerable to harass, making him not that great of laner. He will need a good babysitter to get farm to do well earlygame.

What i have found it that maxing Flame Guard as soon as possible benefits Xin the most. You 1 level of Searing Chains and Sleight of Fist when you can't get Flame Guard. Then you max Sleight of Fist. In every fist you turn on Flame Guard before going in. That will mean more damage during Sleight of Fist and a magic shield to block 500 magic damage.

I believe Desolator and Daedalus are better additions than Diffusal blade at any stage of the game. Those two items synergize excellently with your Sleight of Fist which is by far the best spell you have (it scales better, it's both harassment/damage dealer and escape mechanism). The fact that you can spam it on lvl 4 (6 sec CD) makes it even more recommended to max it out first.
For me it's more like get an early point in Searing Chains, then 1 point in Sleight of fist and Flame guard, max out the former and then the latter and then start upgrading Searing chains to max. After all, Searing chains' 2 sec disable on lvl one is still very good and the plus DPS it gives on next levels is secondary. Essentially, that way you get your main survivability spells maxed to endure without many regen items and focus more on damage output items.
Also, mid-game it's good to have Drum of endurance since it's a good all round item. It's mostly an extension option if you opt for a Bracer early in the game (to make you less squishy).
The Orb of Venom and the Bottle for mid lane are really good suggestions and work greatly but the former will probably be useless by mid game so you either sell it or rush Eye of Skadi.
Ring of Basilius should be picked if you aren't getting mid lane. Bottle can alredy give you that good early game mana regen which is what RoB is mostly for. The Vlad's extension is purely situational if you have issues staying alive.
I recommend adding Urn of Shadows and Vanguard as some good items for Ember. If you go for Stout Shield starting item, Vanguard makes you more viable against good right-clickers. It's definetely more viable than Vlad's most of the time to give you extra survivability. Urn can be picked if you get the mid lane and gank often. It also gives you more STR and mana regen and you can heal if you go full aggro (which you will) at ganks.
Generally, a very good guide I liked a lot the jungling part, didn't know he could do that so efficiently :)

P.S.: A little "game-hack". With your ulti, it's like having a free TP scroll. You place a remnant to the place you are (somewhere advanced on the map of course) and go for a heal at the Fountain. Cast your ulti sub-ability and you just comeback with 135 gold to spare :)

Played Xin a lot today, with different item builds (skill build is very situational depending on lane opponents).
I mostly played safe lane with supports (dual and trilane) since mid is very difficult cause you have only 1 armor and you can't really win your lane against most mid heroes.
On the item build: Phase Boots and Ring of Basilius are definitely core and Magic Wand is a nice addition. With this early game build you basically cover all your mana issues.
Drums is very nice too for the stats mainly, you really need them.

Actually I do not agree with you on the Desolator: the minus armor debuff makes your W much better and with crits allows for insane damage output, increasing also the damage of all your team's right click. Battlefury is quite situational imo and should be picked up only if your team has a hero like Dark Seer or Magnus to maximize its potential, otherwise getting a cheaper damage item is better (like skullbasher).

ganking with Xin is pretty easy actually. Xin can roam well and has an instant "hello I'm here now" with his ultimate, his Q can last up to 3 seconds, and he has a lot of damage, a 3 second snare is more than enough to secure a kill if your other laners are competent enough to follow through with it.
