Hi, so I have 405 hours in DotA 2 now but I feel I'm lacking in proper decision making and overall advanced tactics so if anyone thinks they could help me out that would be awesome.
And yes I watch purgegamers but I feel I'm not getting as much help out of that as I used to.
Well keep playing, thats the only way to get better, know each hero inside out. Once you're able to know heroes inside out you know if u can win or lose a battle. also as you play keep track of item progression on your team and the opposing team to see what to do next.
The thing NOT to do is stated above by Pu12e. But yeah, pretty much like PING- said, knowing all the heroes and comboes and trying new things with friends are the best ways to improve in my opinion.
Sit down one day and watch ti3 games. They are free when using the in game client. I became committed to learning dota after watching every ti2 live (LGD should have won). The announcers are pretty bias near the end but other than that there is ton of stuff you can learn.
My lone druid starting items are 12 Iron wood branches, 6 for the hero and 6 for the bear. Even if the bear does not get stats more twigs are OP on any hero.

Don't do this, the meta has changed, if you're willing to spend a few bucks purchase a ticket and watch current tournaments or just go to DotA2Lounge to see up coming tournaments and watch them via twitch.tv
EDIT: didn't change much but it's better to have individuals who want to learn keep up rather than having them watch older tactics.
