I think a pet hate is when people pick a support, but they don't actually play support. They'll pick a good support hero, so I think we'll be fine, but then they don't buy couriers, wards or anything. They'll also kill-steal, take last hits from carries and even in some cases, I've had supports snatch aegis's from the carry lol. If you're going to pick a support, then please for God's sake, play support! Lol.
True that: I always find Venomancer, Crystal Maiden and Witch Doctor players going for a Shadow Blade without buying one single set of wards; Aghanim's Scepter rush is also a pretty standard things for pub supports ( Lich on top of the list), too. Fortunately I usually fill the map with wards and buy survivability or team-oriented items, so that's not a problem when I'm supporting in the same team (I still get upset if it happens while I'm carrying, though).
So this is for all the Thankless supports out there.
I played a game the other day and I waited until I was the last pick. After our team picked drow, huskar, sniper and pa. The other team picked rikki, bounty, pl and some other carries.
I picked up bane going for #5 support.
Long and short, I grabbed both courier parts, ob wards constantly and of course, sentries.
Game went on with a constant stream of ganks on rikki and pl Thanks to vision of their jungle and rosh.
Either way, at the end of the game, I had the other team commending me for completely shutting them down all game. My team was telling me "you're awesome bane" and I ended up getting 4 friends b requests on steam from it.
Also, we won.
It's rare but how good is that?

I know that feel bro, i am only a support player(mostly any and every) most of the time i get friend requests every game :3, because people rarely see supports who know their work. The best thing to do is buy consumables when your partner is low and give it to him, you dont know how happy it will make them :P
I enjoy playing support.
Played a game last night where I played naga support.
I spent the entire game setting up ganks either on mid or their carry.
We dominated that game while I ended up with mek, drums and arcane boots. Supports shouldn't be bored
I very often play support because in my current skill bracket most other players pick carries and have no idea how to support well. That being said, one of my better personal experiences was from someone else supporting. There was a pretty green fellow who randomed Meepo in a pub. He had no idea how to play the hero and didn't know how to repick. He asked to switch before game to resounding silence from everyone else. I ended up laning with this guy. At first he was generally getting in the way and stealing farm from my carry, who I did actually know how to play. So far this sounds like a terrible story, but the thing is, when I somewhat gruffly told him to stop stealing and switch to supporting, he actually took the advice and did a good job considering he had never played Meepo before. He got off a lot of nets that made early killed happen and really helped to keep my hero alive. I thanked him very much after the game. The moral of the story is, it's always worth it to try talking to your team mates, unless you get killed while typing. :)
To counter balance that story I will relate a pet peeve I've encountered numerous times. Carries who last hit for ****. I'll be supporting, not taking a single last hit for myself, harassing the opposition out of XP range and generally blowing everything I have to give this guy free farm. When I finally check the carries XP somehow he has less than I do. It's maddening.
