Hi everyone, I usually play with SF, and I find difficult to survive certain situations, no matter what I build.
First of all, I have difficult against Pudge and Huskar: Pudge Hook+Rot+Ult combo always destroy me before a teamfight, so I usually have a bad score.
However, I can usually survive his gank early game, as in pub I find myself having often a easy time ganking, and so gaining an advantage.
Huskar kills me with ult as I already have low life (I don't build hp items, as I more often than not have to play as an Hard Carry, because, usually, my HC friend can't farm (i'm teaching him tough) and even with Shadow Blade I can't escape in time (a bit of lag on my part).
Then, the real problem for me as when there is a Pudge or a Huskar I don't pick Nevermore are teamfights.
I usually cover the role of initiator when there is a lack of it, and when invis break after casting requiem, I found myself focused and killed.
I thought about blink dagger, but i'd like to have an escape over an initiating tool..
What can I do?
Your solution: build BKB. While it does not block Hook, Dismember, and Life Break, it does block the damage. And stuns from the other team. It gives you extra HP. If you're 1v1 with Huskar and you can't kill him (though I ask why not, just ult and raze after he ults), BKB and TP out.
Objectively Blink Dagger is better than Shadow Blade since it gives you better positioning, better initiating, and better escape that can't be countered by Sentries, Gem, Dust, Necronomicon, True Sight ults, etc.
In general it sounds like you need to work on your reactions and positioning. Don't get hooked by Pudge so easily.
Well, SF is a squishy hero so he dies more easily than most. It is pretty much map awareness, positioning and items. Sure you can kill a nuekr late game when you have BKB but early game they will tear through your health. If you want an initiator I would recommend playing some one else. SF is ok but he has the flaws you pointed out above.
My lone druid starting items are 12 Iron wood branches, 6 for the hero and 6 for the bear. Even if the bear does not get stats more twigs are OP on any hero.
I don't want to be an initiator but if there aren't in the team, I believe that fiend with his slow on MS and AS do it better than most that only have a single target ultimate.
I know dagger is better for positioning, but in 80 games with fiend enemy took sth for true vision one or two times, except when riki was there... And it saved me many times from ganks.. Building bkb won't help against auto attacks (I sometimes feel they don't see me, and just the automatic attacks kill me), and that's what usually kills me after requiem.
For survivability I build assault cuirass and butterfly, but it is not enough.
Last, taking blink and shadow blade use too much of space, and if I have to carry I can't build enough damage items. My only problem is that I can't go away in time, and my team wait until I'm dead... " they're weakened now"...
Stick with Shadow Blade for now until you get a better grasp of playing SF, seems to me the biggest trouble you're having is positioning. SF can initiate but he needs a lot of protection to follow up and you definitely need BKB to do so to avoid stuns/etc.
But in early game, you'll have to move as much as possible, avoid ganks, and in case you're having a hard time laning, instead of risking your life to farm, use the Shadowrazes to grab some last hits.
I don't have many problem farming, but just surviving after using requiem, because Shadow Blade is on cooldown, and my team often doesn't help.
I'll try with black king bar..
Let's see what I can do with it
