Some newbies think that the game is won by kills, so if your score is like 2/6/12, you are a feeder to them.

The first time I played as Lion support, my team loved me. I bought wards right from the start and when told to go to lane, I replied I was warding. Then someone said "thank God, we should win this" I babysat our hard carry who did just that, carried our ***es to victory. The whole game, I was buying ward after ward keeping full sight of the map and every time the chat screen said "Lion has purchased Observer Wards" The same person replied "Yeah, we will win this"

So to sum up, it gets better. There are more people out there who appreciate what you are doing more than you think. But at the same time there are a ton who won't. Just let them rant, let them be bad, and know what you are doing is the right thing, even if it was a loss.
