How do i use items on a hero ? (items which i won)

Hello.

First of all i want to say that am new to dota meaning i have never played strategy games. Now i am addicted to dota 2 and i have been playing it quit for sometime.

I have a problem, well i won some rare items such as cold case bow for drow ranger , Skirt of the Flameguard etc.

Well my problem is how do i use them in game? I did equip the cold case bow to drow ranger, but is that it ? will that item gets auto activated or something ?

Please , tell me whether am correct or not. If i am wrong please tell me the way to use the items.

In Dota 2, there is a "Store" tab. Click on that, and then click on "Backpack". From there you can see all the items that you have. To equip and item right click it and choose equip! Done!
