@Phee

I suggest you to ignore your teammates and just mute them (open scoreboard and click the mute button), and continue playing. Not worth leaving a game and getting punished because they are ignorant and rude.

From what i have heard this is a big problem in the lower skill levels of the game from a few of my friends who have just started but my advice is just to knuckle down a get a few wins under your belt so you can get into a higher level of skill because there are a lot fewer flamers (but no matter where you are there are still a few and the best way to get the most out of them is to troll them)

Also try and meet new players, become friends with them a play with them. Its a lot funner than always playing with randomers.

Just had something similar. I'm new to this type of game - been playing DOTA2 for about a week now. I've just abandoned a game because some dude had a hissy fit at me for healing someone else. I was Omniknight - the guy I healed had more health but was fighting an enemy hero and I got a gank out of it (he'd have lost if I didn't use Purification). The guy complaining was almost dead, but well away from the fight. He them went on to declare that as the other three players on our team are his friends, I can expect 3 reports for intentional ability abuse. They then all huddled together at top, leaving me solo mid, and the other guy solo bottom. They would initiate team fights near us and then flee, leaving us to die. Basically, a bunch of morons.

I left after 18 minutes. It was just constant text grief (much of it racist). They weren't even any good - they managed to lose all three top towers by the fifteen minute mark against Zeus and Keeper of the Light. The other two of use had to deal with Drow, Huskar and Riki and were managing to hold mid and bottom between us.

Really not a great introduction to the game. I've got two days in low priority mode for doing the right thing, while they might get a day each for being abusive, racist and deliberately hampering the team. Feels like they got off easy while being the ones in the wrong, simply because there's more of them.

When i first picked up a DOTA key in the summer, this is exactly what put me off playing. I didnt face any of this playing SC2, because i played 1v1. But as i ported over to DOTA (which i thoroughly love), i faced a torrent of abuse on several occasions. When i returned about 3 weeks ago, i decided to ignore whatever was posted, unless it was helpful. Then i got stuck in low priority.

Feel free to add me on Steam (username:- zoglug). Im more than happy to play games when i am online and im starting to build up a small group of lower level players (i am only level 3 with 18 wins) to team with.

dw, guys. just persevere and one day you'll be there.
I barely get any bad mannered players in my games where I am now.

Yup stick it through, we've all been through it one way or another though obviously a bit different in your case

In DotA 1, when I first started I had no idea what to do so I was called a nub all the time. It's until I started practicing and mastering the mechanics of the game where all the harassment stopped. At one point, believe it or not, I was called a hacker with Shadow Fiend and Pudge. (Not anymore since I had such a long break)
