So I was just thinking about move speed and what some people think about them. I for one have not found a really good use for tranquil boots. perhaps my playstyle, but wouldn't getting a cheap urn of shadows be much better then tranquil boots?

My prefered method of boots normaly, is Treads 70 percent of the time, mana boots 20 percent, and phase 10 percent. In all scenarios I usually break them down and turn them into travels mid-to-late game transition.

Discussion is the the actual need for other boots besides treads and Phase? Considering you can buy items that would give you ample effects along with some additional stats that would help you better in the long run. Like Urn of shadows over tranquils.

Well, Tranquil Boots fits very well on some heroes early game, such as Axe and Centaur Warrunner , it's also situational, if you have a hard lane, and you get a lot of harass, you can buy Tranquil Boots to survive more, and disassemble it later on to build something else.

Phase Boots is good for heroes who aren't good at chasing or at escaping, since it provides them with more movement speed and no unit collision. Also, some people tend to buy it because it gives you more damage, but it doesn't suit every hero very well.

Boots of Travel is good on any hero, it's not core on any, only on Tinker, but late game is an really useful item any hero can actually afford.

About Urn of Shadows, yeah, it's a nice item, it heals more than Tranquil Boots and also deals damage, but keep in mind, to use it, you need charges, for charges, you need kills, and you can't be sure if you or your team will make kills so you have charges, so it's safer to get Tranquil Boots.

This is my opinion though.

I respect your opinion, and I had forgotten about charges, I guess it just seems my games I usually have it at 10-14. Still though, I debate the fact that a bottle would even be more usefull then tranquil boots? I mean you spend the initial 500 for boots anyways, if the heal was instant I think I would gratify them, but it isn't. I think that for the time you spend on focusing them into your build, is time that could be used to supplement another item. Example would be on a early game jungler like axe, where the boots can help you gank etc, and give you the life ticks between neutral spawns, but for a little bit more farm you can get phase boots, which will help you gank better then tranquils on him. If you need health you use the tangos u have or a pot you were carrying?

I guess I find them rather wastefull in the broader spectrum of building for the entire game.

Tranquils are probably the best boots in the game outside of travels, and certainly the best for cost. They offer ~7HP/second regen for ~500 gold, far outclassing RoH. They also offer movespeed (super significant) and armor (makes lane harass and creeping better). They fit on farming carries (stay in lane for cheap), illusions carries (fast illusions), supports (cheap regen and movespeed), semi-supports, even gankers (heal after gank, speed for dives).
Feel free to check out my guides for Spectre, Dragon Knight, Siren, Medusa, Sniper, Disruptor, or Void. They're pretty cool.

Phase boots are fastes activated, it matches BoT's on most heroes. Tranquils benefits are not as great as combined items though. The Roh can make a few items that supercede the tranquils.

And stats also give you actualy bonuses too, like more str you have the more regen you have etc. So treads can be a better all around item for the category in my op. I am not trying to doubt their power, I only believe there are other more effective items that usually incorporate into most heroes builds.

I also prefer Power Treads most of the time (since I play strength heroes like skeleton king), but add an item like Sange and Yasha to it to be fast enough to close some gaps.
The fast way to fast Skeleton King.
