Hey guys Im very new to DOTA 2. I have played league, and in a video I saw of intro to DOTA 2 it said that abilities don't stack as you level them up. So what's the point of leveling them up, so did I understand wrong or what? Also I saw that after you have maxed all your abilities you start increasing your attributes like Strength, Agility, and Intelligence. So how do I know what to level up for each character? Will it be there primary attribute, such as Luna is primarily an Agility hero, does that mean I put all my points into agility?

Uh, when you level up stats, every stat level up, like +2 AGI +2 STR + INT, all in the same time by leveling stats once, you don't level up AGI, STR and INT by themselves.

Also, you level up skills just like in League of Legends, to make them stronger.

Tell me if you need further help, or if you didn't understand anything I said.

I did understand it. The guy on the video saod that if a hero has a skill that does tons of damage early game then it doesnt do as much damage late game cuz skills dont scale. What he is saying is contrasting to what ur saying im fairly sure your right. Or im just ******ed :D

What he means is that you can't increase the damage of your spells, so they generally do more damage than in League of Legends.

This is because in lol, there is AP, and each spell sales with your champions AP.

In Dota, there is no AP, so skills always deal the same amount of damage.

Here you don't have Ability Power like in League of Legends to increase your skills effectiveness.

But, you can improve your ultimate on some heroes by purchasing Aghanim's Scepter.

So ur saying lvling up a skill in DOTA does not increase damage. So whats the point on leveling it up? Or it does increase damage but you dont increase damage by leveling up your hero level like going 11 to 12 wont increase the damage output of the ability, only leveling up the abulity and getting correct items increases damage? Sorry if Im being frustrating

You don't understand, leveling up a skill does improve the skill, increases damage, it makes the skill better, of course.

But look, let's say a skill deals 300 damage at level 4, okay? It will deal 300 damage until the end of the game, you can't increase the damage of the skill.

Only some ultimates can be improved by purchasing Aghanim's Scepter, which makes almost every ultimate stronger.

It's easy to get confused, but one step to avoid that when learning new games is to stop comparing it to games you've already played, especially if you know next to nothing about the new game.

Take time to prepare a blank slate for Dota 2 and you'll absorb more information much easier. Aaaand I'm only saying this because there aren't any further questions yet.
