Obsessed with gold, King Midas spent all hours of his day hording and counting his golden coins. His greed was noticed by the gods whom cursed him with the "golden touch". At first, King Midas thought this to be a blessing now everything he touched became gold! However, he soon realized that when he touched any food or drink they instantly turned to gold. Then to his despair when he went to hug his daughter, Clydia, she was turned into a golden statue. Midas asked the Gods to remove their curse and save his daughter, but the Gods refused. Enraged, King Midas vowed revenge on the Gods. He learned to avoid starvation by having his servants pour liquid and food down his throat. He created a powerful golden flail and infused it with his curse's magic. After years of training, he cultivated his cursed into a set of deadly skills to face the gods and one day turn them all into a collection of his own personal golden statues.

I really don't like this hero. I hate to say it, but it just doesn't seem very fun to play or play against.
I'll take a look at each of his abilities to describe why I dislike them.
Innate ability:
Having 5 gps is a pretty significant advantage over other heroes early game, not counting his other abilities, and its really just not needed to make the hero interesting.
"The Golden Touch:
King Midas can turn any creep into gold to be horded into his vault."
While this idea is pretty unoriginal already exists in Dota, it fits the hero. However, I don't like both that it copies Hand of Midas and Devour without even an added effect like devour has.
"Golden Petrification
Can temporarily turn his opponents into gold. When gold they are much more resist to damage;
however, they are unable to move, attack, or cast spells. If the hero is killed in gold form King
Midas receives an extra gold."
This ability is probably King Midas' most interesting ability. It kind of screws him over in that he has no magical damage, and keeping this in mind the gold benefit is low, but it makes sense. I would still look to add some feature that makes it more useful for him specifically (whether this is through giving him different abilities that deal magic damage or some other way) and not only as a support's disable, seeing that he is clearly not a support due to his ulti.
"Miser
King Midas gains gold for each attack with his enchanted flail. However, all shops hear of the
wealth of King Midas and increase their costs to make a larger profit."
This ability gives King Midas a third way to earn money, does so in a way that doesn't make sense, and also gives him a pretty serious drawback. It also removes the need to last hit creeps as he'll make more money off of whacking them over and over. It adds nothing to his playstyle in the parts of the game that really matter (fights, ganks, and pushing) but just changes his last-hit priorities a little.
"The Golden Warrior
When activated Midas's attack speed, and damage are increased proportional to the amount of gold he
currently has. When active this consumes gold, if the amount of gold he has dips below a threshold
the ability will stop."
This ability is so ridiculously broken and silly it is, well, silly.
A Midas with a meager 2000 gold, which he gets passively by afk for 5 minutes, will at level 17 deal 300% more damage with 400% more attack speed. He can have this up for ridiculous durations at that point, and while it does cost 1500 gold per cast, he has 400 passive gpm, plus 250 from his q and almost certainly a kill with his ridiculous damage the cost is almost negated. I can't see this ability or any modification of it being balanced; lets say Midas decides to hoard 5000 gold; now he has 750% increased damage and max attack speed no matter what. If he started with a paltry 100 damage, a networth of about 8500 (damage item(s) + 5k gold) can get him a raw dps of over 3000.
Overall, I hate to be this harsh but I feel the hero would benefit immensely from scrapping his innate ability, e, maybe q, and r and starting over.
However, I do not think that a Midas-like hero couldn't work. These abilities I scrapped up would focus around the core idea of Midas and gold without involving money at all.
The Midas Touch
Each attack that Midas performs reduces the target's speed and attack speed by a culmative 30/40/50/60% for .3 seconds as they momentarily turn to gold.
Consuming Greed
Makes damage dealt by the afflicted unit have no effect if it wouldn't get the last hit, but doubles that unit's damage. Targets allies and enemies.
Duration: 3/3.5/4/4.5 seconds.
"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster... when you gaze into the abyss the abyss also gazes into you." - Friedrich Nietzsche
I literally made this up in 2 minutes. Just wanted to post something I can keep coming back to to edit.
I agree with the 5 gps. That is unnecessary and op.
I love the idea of keeping his gold separate from money. That is the way to balance him for sure. He can have a separate gold counter which will equate to additional buffs (Kinda of like Shadow fiend).
Also agree the the golden touch is lame. How do you like this?
The Golden Touch:
Kills and turns any enemy creep into a golden statue that can be controlled and move according to Midas's will. The statue can no longer use skills; however, it radiates brilliant golden glow which damages all enemies near by.
Cast Animation: 0.3+0.5
Cast Range: 400
Duration: 50 s
Mana: 100/120/140/160
Cooldown: 50 s (25 s with skill)
Golden Statue:
Health: Equal to creep health + 50/100/150/200
Damage: Equal to creep damage + 10/20/30/40
Armor: Equal to creep + 2/4/6/8
Radiance Damage: 40/50/60/70 per second (Damage stacks only with other golden statues)
Radiance Range: 600
Ranged Creeps lose range and become melee.
Experience: Equal to creep + 50
Value: Equal to creep + 150
The changes look pretty good!
Also I just realized this hero will be awesome because he will have a relationship with Zeus.
I like the golden statue idea from a mechanics standpoint; however, it seems a little weird with the lore. Not really an issue, though.
I would give the creeps more significant scaling and standardized hp; 350/500/650/800 would be nice, and it would mean that both a hellbear or a ranged creep can both be converted without the player worrying they made a suboptimal choice. Damage and armor could be similarly changed to 40/55/70/85 and 5/6/7/8, respectively.
These creeps do need either a duration (50 seconds, this is probably better to make the talent more significant) or a maximum of 1 being out at once to prevent hoarding them in fountain and then zerg rush.
Golden Petrification looks even better than it did before! Nice!
I suppose Miser could work that way, but I still think that a different ability could replace it. If left unchanged, it should be changed to an extra 60/90/120/150 gpm and certainly not 16 gold per second - that is literally more passive gpm than most people can get on alchemist.
If I were to change the ability, I would make it into something related to his enchanted flail; if it has to be related to money then perhaps every hit on a unit permanently increases the gold it is worth when killed by 4/5/6/7; increasing his farming while keeping the focus on last hitting. Here's an idea that combines this with the flail, though.
Revenge of Clydia
Ever since his daughter, Clydia's, death, Midas has focused on nothing but warfare. Using the unique motion of a flail, he can spread his attack over a wide group of foes; even better, he slowly turns them to gold as he does so. This results in a technique perfect for battling the gods all at once.
After every attack, Midas gets a buff that reduces his BAT by 0.3/0.45/0.6/0.75 if he attacks an enemy he has not attacked in the last second.
Additionally, every attack increases the gold the target will drop by 2.
I worry this will turn every fight of his into a button-mashing contest, but that's fine.
The Golden Warrior looks a lot more balanced than it used to, but I'm still not sure I like the idea behind it. It just seems like someone who turns things into gold would have a more interesting ultimate than just a damage and hp buff; I don't know. I have only thought of one idea to replace this but I didn't like it that much because it necessitates a rework of his w, which is an awesome ability (as having a 6.5 second stun would be dumb and generally the same ability twice is bad).
The Golden Garden
Midas's magic begins to spread through the very air around him. For 3/4/5 seconds, all units (allied and enemy) in a 400 radius are turned to gold. This effect lingers for 1/1.25/1.5 seconds.
Mechanically otherwise the same as Golden Petrification.
Aghanims increases the radius to 650.
I wish I had another idea. As is, it's not a bad ultimate, and the addition of the radiance burn is nice as well and makes it a little unique. But I feel like it could be more.

I like the set health and armor. Yea the moveable statues are definitely not part of Lore, but in the Lore the Gods take the curse away.... which is lame sauce, lol, so we are already of track.
I was also thinking he could just turn a creep into an unmovable statue which would have radiance as well. So we could just up the life and damage it does, but then there is no micro involved which I think adds more to the character.
I will replace the Miser with something else. Instead of hitting maybe he could "Enrich" a creep/hero they could take more magic damage and be worth more for each enrichment stack. (This could be a good support feature as well).
Erich:
King Midas enriches the blood of his enemies with particles of gold. Making them more susceptible to magic damage and worth more upon death.
Magic damage increase per stack: 2/4/6/8%
Added gold upon death: 10/20/30/40
Mana Cost: 20
CD: 6 s
Duration: 30 s
The ult is in honor of my favorite hero from Warcraft 3 "The mountain King" he goes into avatar mode. This is similar but without the spell immunity... as that would be OP. However, I love the garden Idea a golden fountain with a statue of Clydia could be in the center. Maybe she could enrich everyone in the area over time and unleash radiance damage.
Revenge of Clydia
King Midas turned his daughter into his greatest weapon. She stands upon a golden fountain and enriches all enemies in the area over time, emitting a strong radiance damaging nearby enemies.
Enrichment per sec: 2/6/10%
Value increase per enrichment: 10/20/30
Radiance damage: 60/80/100
Range: 800
Clydia Health: 300/400/500
Armor: 10/20/30
Value: 300 gold
Mana Cost: 250
Duration: 30 s
I really like both of the new spells, and making the creep statue immovable sounds like a good idea. If you want to do that, make sure to change the description of the spell to reflect that.
For Enrich, I see no problems except that the bonus gold probably shouldn't stack. I'm not sure if that's how it already works in your mind, but just something I think should be noted. My reasoning for this is that way you would either use it as a last-hitting spell or a combat spell, but never both at the same time, giving it distinct uses in multiple situations.
Also, it might be better to have the enrichment factor be 4/6/8/10; 2% is literally nothing, especially at low levels.
Revenge of Clydia needs a cooldown, but the idea behind it is great. I would suggest three things; one, remove the additional money per second from it; otherwise people will only use it as a farming tool (literally 5k gold from a stacked camp). Also, increase her hp a little higher, maybe to 300/600/900; late game it would be very sad for him to ult and then literally have it die in two hits. Finally, make it so it has a base increased magic damage of 20/30/40% and a scaling value of 2/3/4%, so it is more significant immediately, but still gets up to 80/120/160% increased damage by the end of the duration.
Some possible aghanims/talent upgrades could be to increase burn damage or radius, make her invulnerable, or increase the duration.
Warcraft 3 is an awesome game; you got that right.
I think its awesome because this hero has transitioned from something I couldn't imagine in dota to something that would fit right into the game.
