I understand your technique, and I respect that; indeed I would say the Glimmer Cape is a very seldom seen item in a Lich, but still I would prefer it to the Shadow Blade (it's not used for escaping, but in the middle of fights, for a better positioning/to use on your allies/for the 75% magical resistence). But a Blink Dagger is much better :)
And yeah, the lifesteal is not so important as the cooldown reduction, if you're swimming in gold and as a 6th item I guess.
Suggestion: adding Glimmer Cape. I know you have the Talisman already, but Glimmer is always a good surviving item for a support, specially if you don't go for that BKB.
Oh, and the mighty Refresher Orb or Octarine Core. Just because you're a support doesn't mean some game don't go your way and you end up with a lot of cash and can put double lifestealed balls flying around ;)
Hi, thanks for the feedback. Anyway, I don't see sincerely a use for the Glimmer Cape on Lich... unless you want to use it in a supportive way: for that I mean to use it on an allied hero. Because if you want to use the technique that I described in the guide, you're supposed to be sure that the enemy can't use area stuns while you're invisible, and also that they won't use Sentry Ward or Dust of Appearance. This is why my advice is to use the Shadow Amulet if you're sure that you won't be discovered: because it offers infinite invisibility. Also, the Glimmer Cape make you invisible for only 5 seconds and so it blocks the possibility to use this technique. What am I trying to say? I'm trying to say that, in my opinion, if you want to have an escape, is better to use a Blink Dagger instead. Also, always in my opinion, I see the Glimmer Cape more useful for channeled abilities than for escaping. For escaping with invisibility I would suggest a Shadow Blade instead for the long invisibility that it offers. Anyway I think Blink Dagger is the best choice because the stats of the Shadow Blade are useless for Lich.
And about the Refresher Orb and the Octarine Core... well, they are good items for a nuker. Anyway you haven't to killsteal with a support like Lich, unless you're using this ulti, so you're supposed to have low farm for these items. But if you get the gold, why not?
In any case this is a nice comment, I think I'll add these items to my guide and I'll specify when to get them.
Anyway, if someone doesn't agree with me, I gladly accept other constructive comments.
I don't care for your item list, but I don't judge those because everyone has their own style and situations, but the notion that he is ineffective in late game is absurd. He wrecks late game. Level 3 Ult with Agh's in a team fight is devastating. Since it's noobs that tend to pick him due to ease of use, you don't see it. But in the hands of a knowledgeable player, he's devastating. He get's easy XP since he's god of his lane. Total wrecking ball.
If Lich was such a wrecking ball, you would see him in competitive. And I have actually never seen him in a competitive game yet - and I mean it, never. He does lose potential, because you're supposed to have Black King Bars running in the late game, and if he doesn't have some help to get good ultis, some way of setting them up with the help of friends or by himself (I agree with the Blink Dagger here, or even a Force Staff) then his ulti will be a one-man-only, unless your enemies are ******ed or low leveled, and we're assuming here that they aren't.
He has a good laning phase, specially as a support/offlaner, but that's about it. He's squishy and can be easily disabled, having only his slow to help him survive.
Anyway, nice guide, I agree with pretty much everything you got here, it's indeed a nice standard Lich support guide, and you put an effort on it. Good job.

I read your two points... but I have to disagree with the first point, only because there was a misunderstanding: you told that the slow is a stun. This is correct if you say that this is a way to disable the enemy. But the main meaning of a stun is an ability whose effects is to disable completely the enemy. For "completely" I mean to stop channelling abilities and to block totally the enemy in the way that he can't use his melee/ranged attack nor use his spells. This is why I told that Lich hasn't stun abilities. But after reading some things, I can say you're actually not wrong, because even the slow can be considered officially a stun, but it doesn't disable completely the enemy. By the way I'll modify the guide in order to be more precise.
For the second point I agree and I disagree at the same time. As i told in the guide, this is purely situational: if the enemies haven't got enough magic resistance from abilities and items, then you're right, the ultimate will still be strong. But if they got enough magic resistance, this ultimate will be a pain because in teamfight it won't be so useful, especially if more than two enemy heroes will fight against you, because the DPS per enemy hero will be weaker. This, I repeat, only if most of the heroes will get magic resistance, because if only two have got them, for example, the ultimate can be still be used to kill easily, especially with Aghanim's Scepter.
I disagree with a couple of things. The first, you said: - No stun abilities (!)
Frost is a stun, and as a bonus, his Ult stuns when it hits.

As michimatsch said, I would prefer a Mekansm because as a support you have the task to assure to the other players that they will get protected in more ways as possible. Note that, anyway, I didn't put a sixth item in the obligatory items because in my experience Lich tends, even when it plays as a semi-carry, to not complete all the items, but that sixth item could be the Blink Dagger if you think it can help. Anyway I find that it should be an early/mid item instead of a late one because, as I said in the guide, Lich starts to be ineffective in late game. But having to do the Mekansm in mid game and then the Aghanim's Scepter makes this item unreachable in my opinion, so this is why I even not put it in the situational items. Instead, a great substitute for the positioning (if enemies can't stun/find you while you are invisible) but not for the escape could be the Shadow Amulet as I said, but it's risky to use. The only reason because I put in in the situational items is that is less expensive than the Blink Dagger, otherwise I wouldn't put even it, if not only in certain situations.

Well but keep in mind that an early Mekansm greatly helps your team in terms of surivability I get it in 8/10 matches. The only reasonable reason to not get it would be if the game is very passive. But then still a Mekansm is just too good...

I prefer Blink Dagger over Mekansm, help to get good positionning for devastating Chain Frost and add an escape
As michimatsch said, I would prefer a Mekansm because as a support you have the task to assure to the other players that they will get protected in more ways as possible. Note that, anyway, I didn't put a sixth item in the obligatory items because in my experience Lich tends, even when it plays as a semi-carry, to not complete all the items, but that sixth item could be the Blink Dagger if you think it can help.
