Skipping Curse of the Silent is not an option, at least not in my case. It's better to level up 4:1:4, instead of 0:4:4. You go fast Aghanim's Scepter, Rod of Atos, Refresher Orb, Assault Cuirass. I've played a lot of Silencer, not because Illidan played him, because Silencer is a strong hero. I just don't like the change that happened to Last Word.

i think aghs is pretty *** now since the only thing that aghs does is putting curse on all your enemies, and since everyone will be getting BKB/manta/euls anyway it really does very little.

all his latest buffs and nerfs were to make him move away from the aghs+refresher rush, and to play him as more of a carry.

also curse is useless as soon as games become a bit more organised if you play him as a carry. it can be good in 2-1-2 lane scrub pubs though.

There are situations that curse of the silent does nothing by itself, especially against spammers.

Take a look at this:https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/1600250471

You may take a look at the replay but it's pretty clear from the scoring board. Silencer with 41 kills! If I'm correct, he has 100+ stolen INT, but yet he still lose. Yeah maybe they have weak late game presence but his item choice is also another reason why he lose. After he rushed Agha-refresher, all of our mana will turn to 0. But that's the only thing he can do. Once we got BKB/manta, his agha-refresher does nothing.

Undeniably, his 0-4-4 build is very impactful, so whoever says skipping CotS is totally not a option, not even a situational choice, your argument is invalid :C

I think the reason they lost that game is because they didn't press enough and let the enemy team farm, and lost because their late game presence is too weak compared to radiant.
