As I've watched more and more professional dota, I've come to notice the amount of turnover in the North American scene. Not only that, but aside from EG (which isn't even an entirely american roster, let alone, north american), there aren't any other real powerhouses that hail from north america.

As you can see from these rankings, North America's presence is underwhelming, while EG has solidified their status as a global powerhouse, capable of grappling with the likes of Vici and Secret, the only other NA team in the top 25 (if we exclude Team Tinker, which I'm not quite sure constitutes as a North American team) is Summer's Rift.

So, why is it that North America can't seem to have a stable pro scene where teams can actually stick for more than a week? China's pro scene has been rather stable, the European and CIS scenes have been that way for the most part, heck even Russia has had more stability than the entire continent of NA.

Also, will the Americas qualifiers for TI5 even be worth watching?

Europe and China/Asia have been the most successful regions in competitive Dota - it seems understandable that, in and industry where the overwhelming majority of professionals relies almost exclusively on their earnings from winnings, the talent flocks to where success is most likely.

Edit: Look at any professional sport, it's more often than not the teams with a history of success that are dominant or constantly at the top level, and that are a draw for talented players.

Why wouldn't they be? I find that professional Dota is a bit like pizza or sex - if it's good, it's really ****ing amazing. But if it's bad, it's still pretty good.

Burden , my burden united #14 :)
If they go top 10 I am gonna be so proud of them.

And yeah north america isn't the best but it'a still pretty awesome to watch. There are still some big plays even if it's lower. I prefer watching tier 2 teams, to be honest.

Well the american scene has never been really strong.
TI2 they had EG which did decent in the group stage and were instantly knocked down to lower bracket and eliminated.

TI3 had a dignitas not make top 8, EG failing to qualify. Liquid ofcourse manged to upset LGD in that epic match, but they didnt have a true top team. That team is still probably the second best NA dota 2 team behind the post TI3 EG.

TI4 there was only EG, liquid wasnt anything impressive and neither was NA(R)VI.
Other then that in the qualifier NYX wws the only other team worth looking at.

NA just has a massive problem forming team, there was a month last year where multiple teams pretty much constantly threw players around, and noone could keep a roster for a WEEK.

I think the american scene only has the potential to form 3/4 teams that can make a shot at participating at TI. And that is without considering synergy and players agreeing.
Right now EG is pretty much certain of their spot. Apart from that there is NoT, rift and complexity who has a chance of winning the qualier, if its region based at all. But all of those teams have no chance of getting anywhere in the tournament.
Tinker will maybe get lucky and be allowed to play in the american qualifiers, and they probably have the biggest chance.
