Looking forward to the Damage Reduction section. Great guide!

i think the correct calculation for critical items is: Total_Effective_DMG_with_item - Base_DMG which means ex.Crystalis (TotalDMG*0.2*1.75+TotalDMG*0.8)-BaseDMG

TotalDMG= CrystalisDMG + BaseDMG with base i mean rest of dmg without the crit item.

I think the stats for the daidalus are outdated. Now crit. chance is 25% and critical DMG is 240% at the cost of 2550 gold making it less gold efficient than 1 crystallys and even 2.

Absolutly brilliant. This helps sifting thru items and making unconscious decisions about the effectiveness of an item based on its name or picture (stats are confusing). I would recommend this guide for any player out there. Very gg, nice job.

As I was browsing through, I happened to note that in the Attack Speed section, you divide the value of the Iron Branches stats by 89 for some reason and not 53.

Nevertheless, the guide was insanely helpful, as I certainly wouldn't put the time into calculating the efficiencies of each item, but I'd definitely like to know what's best for value.

Ah, thanks for pointing that out. I guess I must have used the previous value (1.89) for Iron Branch on accident.

As a new DOTA player, understanding the items was/is for me the next big learning curve from understanding the core mechanics / flow of the game (yes even before Heros themselves), so a guide like this is really great when pulled together with the general understanding of builds and building up your items through out a game from early / mid / late.

Nice job - keep it up !

Thanks. Looking at the numbers I'm beginning to see why Iron Branch is such a popular starting item among better players.

This is an excellent idea. I'm by no means a 'good' DotA player, but even I understand the benefits of knowing which items are more cost efficient. Sending a + 1, and I'll be checking in on this every once in a while. Keep up the good work!

Thanks =P
I've pretty much finished up the damage section, though I'm sure people will ask about items I omitted.

The damage part took so long because there is A LOT of manual calculations due to the fact that many of the items offer damage modifying effects. Most of the rest of the guide should take much less time because I can basically just build an excel spreadsheet with the formulas built in, then past it into here ;)
