On a second thought, Scythe of Vyse is even more expensive than Orchid Malevolence and you don't want to keep yourself without a good active this long, maybe it would be better to get a Eul's Scepter of Divinity first, then Drum of Endurance and then head for Scythe of Vyse

Edit: or even better to get a Force Staff first after a Void Stone, Force Staff is amazing thing and I've seen a lot of Invokers getting it over any other item, I don't agree with not getting mana regen item so I never really went for it, but it's really amazing item.

Force Staff works well instead of alongside Drum of Endurance, very true. I usually don't get it though, if perhaps only because the popularity of Force Staff bothers me somewhat.

The main problem with Orchid Malevolence over Scythe of Vyse is that even though it's not a bad item per say, it doesn't stop foes from using attacks/items like Scythe of Vyse does. It's also countered (removed on activation) by Manta Style, rendering it ineffective against most carries. I prefer to dominate and control the enemy team's carries whenever possible, rather than feeding off of their supports/casters with Orchid Malevolence.

Eye of Skadi essentially does what you're looking for Bloodstone to do late game but better, giving not only a healthy amount of HP/Mana but also some DPS/Armor and a great slow that penetrates Black King Bar.

Eye of Skadi, got it, good point.

I see your point, and I can't really counter it, it's more of a personal choice whether one want to deal more damage and have more attack speed with just unreliable half disable or if they want to fully disable them with a hex but deal less damage with no attack speed increase.

Lol, thanks, fixing it.

Are you asking me to remove Bloodstone from luxuries? I wouldn't really recommend it either but what else to put into luxuries? Bloodstone actually gives more hp that is cool, and a load of mana regen too, even late game as Invoke I usally run low on mana, but it usually manages to recharge before another big fight if we are winning it is enough, if we are loosing I run out of mana quite a lot but usually have fontain close so it doesn't mattter, but if one wants too be in front lines all the time Bloodstone can help I guess, also decreases money lost and respawn time.

Yes Scythe of Vyse is a viable option too, I have it under quas-exort when dealing agains dps heroes, but overally Orchid Malevolence gives better bonuses and the silence can be counted as disable too, versus caster heroes, Linken's Sphere as I said is more of a experiment, for protection. Scythe of Vyse is very good item, give's mana regen, strengh and load of intelligence that even though exort invoker already has enough damage, it still doesn't hurt to deal even more damage.

Linken's Sphere is a situational item with inefficient bonuses that no hero should blindly rush. It's effective against teams with only a few ways to break it that they wouldn't want to part with, but useless against teams that include heroes such as Lion or Zeus who can easily use Mana Drain or Arc Lightning to make Spell Shield next to worthless.

You listed " Drum of Endurance for magic protection, never bad idea" instead of " Hood of Defiance...".

The rest of your item choices, however, are fairly good. I personally prefer a more standard Phase Boots, Drum of Endurance and Scythe of Vyse when I play Invoker regardless of whether I go for Quas/ Exort or Quas/ Wex.

I tried following your guide more closely, and found myself loving getting the oblivion staffs early on, I was wrong to question it!

I'm interested in seeing what else you'd have to say... I found keeping eul's to go disable mad made me win a couple of heavily outnumbered fights, but I haven't tried Linken's sphere, I'll go for that next game, and ditching drums definitely was the better choice. I'll keep experimenting around your build and see what comes up! +1 :)

Thank you, nice to have some positive feedback.
But about Linken's Sphere it's more of a experimental build just yet, I mean linken's gives you mana regen, that is needed, and also boost your health regen so you don't have to keep quases up, finally the ultimate orb boosts your strengh instead bracer so it overally seemed like a good idea, not to mention the pasive spell block, which is not so visible as you only notice how anoying some spells are only iof they actually hit you. So I'm looking forward to seeing how it worked, I tried it a quite a few times and went well.

This could use some cleaning up, but I'm very impressed with the inclusion of orchid malevolence. However, the item buying order isn't as efficient as it could be.

Your start is perfect - Blades to get phase boots early, tangoes, gg branch - but the second you can finish of phase boots, it's better to build Eul's simply for the cheap mana regen and fantastic disable than to buy a couple of masks.

Your core (after considering your additions) is best as: Phase Boots, Eul's Scepter of Divinity, Drums of Endurance (if no one else bought them), Aghanim's Scepter, Orchid Malevolence, and if you can afford it Scythe of Vyse.

The main argument is probably between Scythe and Orchid, but if there's no competent silencer on your team, orchid is the obvious choice, and even then an invoker with a high level wex/exort won't need much more than 5 seconds silence to take down someone, given they have a few spells spare.

But a good guide. Well done :)

I understand your point but this is my aim, I want to replace Eul's Scepter of Divinity for Orchid Malevolence for siple reason, it gives +55 damage while Eul's Scepter of Divinity gives only 10 and that in form of intelligence, it also gives some attack speed. What I want for this build is to do more damage and be more carry-like, I'm planning to add another build that specializes on casting lotsa spells with early Eul's Scepter of Divinity and Aghanim's Scepter.

The two Sage's Masks are there for mana regen, then later I upgrade them to Oblivion Staffs to boost the mana regen and add some damage and attack speed. Eul's Scepter of Divinity is cheaper but gives only needed mana regen and cool movement speed but for that we already have Wex, the active is a bit situational, I don't really find it that usefull.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback :)
