Because you need the stout shield for extra survivability, and the courier for your team. If you play smart, you won't need the extra health/mana regen for the first few levels. So you buy the recipe that way you can use the side shops to complete your soul ring faster while leaving the courier open for people who need it more (like mid so he can get his bottle etc.). I feel like people abuse the courier a little too much, and don't realize the power of the side shops. By using the side shops, it's possible for me to stay in my lane until I need the vit booster for my vanguard. For Dark Seer, a few extra early game levels go a long way.

I just play it safe until level 2. Ion shell is more important. And yes that's what I meant, I just don't know how to list it as a recipe
