So it's been made clear that the recent changes to Abyssal Blade have hurt a number of heroes (mainly carries like Bloodseeker and Phantom Assassin), but I'm more interested in what heroes, before building an abyssal wouldn't make sense, can now include into their build.
Haha, I did in fact build Abyssal Blade on Timbersaw during one of my only 'professional' Dota 2 matches. It worked pretty well too. XD
Spectre I think is a good Abyssal carrier these days, for sure. With her Haunt, a Diffusal Blade, and that item, she becomes an Anti-Mage that doesn't need to worry about missing her blink. Insane burst potential if she gets a Manta as well.
It might be legit on Broodmother these days: give her the lockdown she needs to burst down heroes who would otherwise Force Staff away from her passive, or just are naturally high mobility. Maaaaybe Juggernaut against certain line-ups? I've seen first hand what a game turns into if your Juggernaut gets Abyssal instead of an actual damage item though ;_;
Looking for a laugh? Read this moron's attempts at guide writing:
Centaur got pretty good with this item. Before, it was a very rare late game pickup purely for the active. Now he can be quite decent with it, especially as a vanguard upgrade in games where you got VG. His ultimate, blink being core, his high agility, and his lack of ability to harm heroes with BKB active all make the item decently viable on him.
AM got a lot better with this item because it now lets him completely skip Vlads as an item, and the health aspect is very important for him, since he wants to burn mana and direct damage is not really required for him as much as agility. Plus, giving him the option to get it before Bfury does nothing but help his options.
Another hero that improved with this item, Sand King, since the stats were lackluster on him. Now in the situations where you run VG on him (mainly as a solo against Broodmother), you have a natural upgrade that lets him do something to BKB carriers. His AGI and difficulty to kite means he can use the passive decently too.
