Lately I've been farming for the hand of midas for almost every single game. I noticed it doesn't go well with some heroes, depending on their ability to farm. I find it very fun to use tho. Let me know what you guys think of it and which heroes do you think would benefit from it :)

I think that there are better farming items that give a much better pay-back, make you more useful earlier, and have a bigger utility. Examples include but are not limited to Maelstrom, Battle Fury, Radiance, ect...

I'd only get HoM if I am the only hard carry and I know my team can hold off until 20 minutes for me to do anything and I can acquire it and have it in my inventory before 7 minutes.

What he said. Although 8 minutes isn't the end of the world.

I think it's overused a lot. That's 1900 gold, which can be used to buy a lot of other stuff and make a huge impact on the early game.

Well if you are farming it is pretty good. Compare it with saving your gold for another farming item like Battle Fury. If you are getting 400gpm (excellent early game) you can get Hand of Midas around 7 minutes presuming you bought consumables, branches, quelling blade, etc., and increase your gpm to 514. Alternatively you can farm another 6-7 minutes for that 14 minute Battle Fury. But if you got the Hand of Midas, with 514 gpm you can farm the Battle Fury anyway in 8-9 minutes for a 16 minute Battle Fury. It's only a two minute delay.

Furthermore, that two minute delay is more than made up for with the extra exp you get. Assuming you use the Hand of Midas on Large jungle creeps, which are at least 100exp, you'll increase your xpm by a hefty 150.

But if you're having trouble surviving in the early game, other stuff might be better like a Poor Man's Shield, Ring of Health, Vladmir's Offering etc. etc. Hand of Midas is for a carry who can safely farm for at least 15-20 minutes.

At that point, might as well keep the gloves of haste, and get a Mithril hammer for a Maelstrom.
