Hi there! So, I've been playing more and more dota but I feel as though I need assistance in understanding the items, general mechanics, map layout etc. I came to dota from league of legends but i am well aware they are very different games, but I am at least not entirely new to the MOBA genre. Also, if you don't want/have time to help me, it would be a great deal to recommend some new heroes to try. I like hard carries, assassins, bursty mages and durable initiators, and I'm not really one for squishy supports. Here's a list of heroes I have tried and like.
-Bloodseeker
-Juggernaut
-Ursa
-Bounty Hunter
-Spectre
-Riki
-Magnus
-Sand King
Also here's a list of characters I find interesting but don't really know anything about them
-Storm Spirit
-Zeus
-Enigma
-Queen Of Pain
-Death Prophet
-Outworld Devourer
-Nyx Assassin
-Phantom Assassin
-Faceless Void
-Morphling
-Templar Assassin
-Razor
-Chaos Knight
-Doom
So I'd love to gather some opinions on those heroes!
Hello, I'll start with the heroes I know most about in the list that you gave. This is just my opinion. All of the situations I'll give you will be in pubs. This is also in no particular order.
Zeus : He can be a good hero, he is a support, although you can somewhat carry with him. His carry would only be relevant early game because the 300 point damage hits from Lightning Bolt or his W. He should almost always go mid because his ult Thundergod's Wrath is incredibly useful for killing heroes that are almost dead. Unlike the default guide in the game, I suggest getting an Aghanim's Scepter before Veil of Discord because it does more ultimate damage.
Queen of Pain She is a very fun hero, although I've played her few times. Her Blink is super useful for getting away. Her E Scream of Pain is very helpful for getting rid of creep waves because it has a 4 second respawn time.
Morphling He is a very odd hero. I'm not a big fan of him. He's very difficult to use and is different than any of the heroes you've played. You may have a hard time using him.
I haven't played with Phantom Assassin, Razor, Doom, or Templar Assassin recent enough to give my opinions on them.
I'm also a big fan of hard carries. They're my favorite thing to play in this game because I just love the feeling of controlling everything. Basing off the list you gave me, there are some heroes that you would definitely enjoy but have never tried. Most of the heroes you listed are strength heroes and because of that I recommend Sven. His ultimate God's Strength is incredibly strong because it gives you +100% damage for around 30 seconds. If you get a Mask of Madness with him, you'll be able to kill almost anyone. Not to mention Storm Hammer is a very powerful stun. Although it only stuns for 2 seconds, it does 300 damage and has a small AoE which is very useful for team fights.
I would love to help mentor you in learning the game! I can help to teach you many heroes and help you become an excellent, well rounded player who can not only hard carry but also support the team.
