Benx, the Cat Samurai


Numbers are rough, I don't balance games for a living so take it with a grain of salt.

Benx's story is one of self-realization. Upon achieveing status of 'Samurai', he was called upon by his Lord to exterminate a few of the rat gangs that plagued the city. After Benx's first kill, he threw down his sword, now stained with blood, and swore to never harm another unless it was absolutely necessary. He returned to his Lord and was exiled from the city that he grew up in. Now, he roams from town to town, offering the service of a bodyguard to those who need it. "He who strikes first is most vulnerable." -Benx

STR Gain: 24+2.5 AGI: 10+1.5 INT: 13+2.5

Armor: 2.43
Movespeed: 300
Attack Range: Standard Melee

Benx is a capable Tank with a very unique skillset who focuses on disabling his enemies in an unconverntional way while maintaing the ability to Semi-Carry if the situation calls for it.

Defend: Defends an allied unit, for 4/4.5/5/5.5 seconds, taking 20/30/40/50% of all damage received by that ally and giving the ally and Benx a 6/8/10/15% movement speed buff.

Mana Cost: 30/50/70/90
Cooldown: 11/10/9/8
Range: 300

Provoke: Provokes an enemy unit similar to Silencer's 'Curse of the Silent', except backwards. The damage over time, in health and mana (15,10/30,20/45/30.60/65 respectively) will only happen if the opponent uses an ability. Lasts for 3/3.5/4/4.5 seconds.

Mana Cost: 60/70/80/100
Cooldown: 8/8/8/8
Range: 800

Pacifist: Passive that grants up to a maximum of 100 extra damage for one basic attack. Damage grows at 3/5/7/9 damage per second and the effect has a 5 second cooldown time between attacks to start growing again. If used at maximum charge, Benx restores to himself 25/30/35/40 mana.

Cooldown: 5/5/5/5

Moment of Peace: Channeled ability, global range for all enemies. For 3/4/5 seconds, all enemy heroes do zero damage through attacks or abilities. Goes through magic immunity.

Mana Cost: 140/140/140
CD: 140/140/140

It differs slightly from Omniknight's because it's global range and also works against spells as well. He also has to channel it, plus your team doesn't regen.

His Provoke is intended to be used in situations that you KNOW someone is going to cast a spell. Like right before a venge stun or something like that. It'd be a hard spell to pull off hence why it burns so much health/mana.

Good idea. I'd tweak to strength gain, maybe to 2.8 or so. Also, character design is a bit like bounty hunter. Maybe they could be brothers, bounty hunter kills for money, bend defends for money? :)

That's actually a pretty good idea. Would make for interesting lore. I just realized 28 would be the highest starting str in the game so I tweaked it. Seems pretty decent every other place.

Pretty cool idea, but my one problem is he is a samurai and his agi gain is so low. IMO ive always thought samurai to be swift, not necessarily stealthy cuz someone will comment ur thinking of ninjas, but very nimble and adept with any weapon.

For his q, there should be some offensive part to it, like reflect dmg? To give more utility. Also, Benx should jump to the targets side. Again, Utility, and it'd be more realistic (swordsman taking blows for you when hes 20 feet away lol)

For w, I think the damage wouldn't be very good punishment. I mean, the person who gets this casted on him would get a notice about it. I think we should increase/change the effect so it'd be more game-changing to compensate for its hard to hit-ness. How about making his w not let them cast the spell? I mean that when they cast it with this buff on, the spell doesn't cast, but is still put on cd and manacost still gets paid?

For e, how about making it so that the more % hp a hero has the more damage you do? Pretty much a complete change, just saying this because it makes sense for its name Pacifist.

For his ult, I think its a bit OP. You have basically almost complete god mode for your whole team, which even Omni doesn't have. Change it so that either side can't do damage? Make the duration longer and let it be manually turned off? Then again, it'd be like a Naga Siren rip-off.

A few suggestions. They might be a little hard to understand.
