Help with my next hero

Hey all.
I'm a new player and checked some guides, deciding to train myself as a sniper.

What a surprise that after my first live match, the sniper was nowhere to be found since he’s banned in most games.

So, I decided to start again with Drow Ranger to avoid the ban. So far, I’m enjoying playing her, but while she’s a fun hero, I’m not getting many kills.
Most importantly, when Drow is in front of most heroes, she tends to die instantly.

I need your help choosing my next hero. Can you suggest one „begginer easy“ hero that can get kills easily and ideally has an escape function? (Ranged and melee please.)
