I was recently looking at the Dota 2 Reborn new game modes. They are crazy! An example is overthrow, a new mode with 5 teams of 2 players all together in some sought of battle royal arcade game. Each team must work together as a pair and try and hold the middle of the map, king of the hill style, while of course getting kills and gold along the way.
While I was watching Purge's new youtube video I could not help thinking about how much Dota is going to change in the near future. Now I know over the years Dota 2 has had some significant updates such as the rune changes and the moving of Roshans pit. But the introduction of casual LOL gamemodes will completely change how the game is played and who plays it.
So i want to know what you guys think. Do you like the new changes? Are they breathing new life into this once ground-breaking game? Or will they ultimately be harmful to the original and dedicated Dota 2 community?
I think that the new changes are for the better. Dota was originally created in a game much like this, as a mod for WC3. I think that these custom game modes allow for much innovation. So far, valve is doing everything right IMO.
Also, lots,of other games have modes, like this ;) (Starcraft II for example)
The new game modes will open possibilty for new boredom buster games that are really fun to play rather then having to repeat the same stagnant gameplay of the normal gamemode, atleast valve is trying to make dota more fun for someone who dosent want to play the same map over and over again, (particularly when someone is having a bad day and is on a losing streak, they could play the gamemodes instead of raging over losing so much games on a all pick ranked match)

These new game modes are going to be great for fostering communities in dota 2, with the improved chat channels and the current custom match system, the game will be a better experience overall. this will also lower the barrier of entry even more for some people as i do recall some people i knew buying wc3 just for the custom games. dota 2 is free so i believe this will bring more and more people on to play the core game and create a more enjoyable community for us to interact and play in.
I agree with shinnseii. I was watching Baumi on youtube and he mentioned that he thought 70% of the WC3 community played exclusively mods. This will almost certainly not happen with DotA, but this is a needed change of pace from what DotA used to be.
Well I think it will bring positve effect to Dota 2.Since Reborn beta tested released,it make custom game mode much more easier to be played of course it will become another attract factor to teenage gamer and perhaps give some "healing" after several lose of mmr match making or due to play the games with full of douchbag lol.
