Braxton

The Mighty

Soldiers are known for hating war, and Braxton, the second son of a lower noble in a now forgotten land, was no exception. During his time he studied the finer points of war under masters of various styles of fighting, until the time came for him to join his father's army. Then he put his vast knowledge into practice, combining skill and cunning with courage and an unwavering dedication to his orders. None could question his loyalty and many began to admire this upstart warrior who fought gallantly. Tragically, during a particularly disastrous battle, Braxton's father and the entirety of the army's command was wiped out in a surprise attack. As the remaining soldiers panicked and began to retreat in disarray, Braxton instead turned and led any who would follow back into the vanguard of the enemy force in what seemed to be a suicidal attack. But the distraught soldier still knew his trade, and drawing on all his Strength of War, Braxton felled foe after foe in a terrible Crazed Rush. Watching one of their own so heroically continue the battle, many of Braxton's fleeing comrades reformed rank and began to cut their way to his position. Seeeing his allies fighting to reach him, Braxton continued his Valiant Assault into the center of the enemy army, appearing as a dread fiend to the opposition while simultaneously Inspiring Might in his brethren. Then, as the tables turned, the enemy commanders realized they had no need to fight any longer; seeing as their objective to kill the leadership of the army had been completed. Knowing this, they turned and fled the battlefield, leaving Braxton with naught but the body of his father. Now Braxton is desperate to avenge his father, and in doing so has dedicated himself to war though he has no love of it, fighting greater battles day by day in his search for the men who slew his father.

Valiant Assault
Braxton heroically stands his ground, gaining a variety of buffs including status and magic resistance, a slow effect for every attack he makes, and if disarmed he will deal physical damage to all enemies within melee range based on his damage. Valiant assault also gives additional values for Braxton based on how many spells have been casted on him by any means.

W
Crazed Rush
Braxton incites a wild flurry of spellcasting in himself, an enemy hero, or an allied hero forcing them to charge the closest hero and cast all available spells they have at their disposal on that hero. While under this effect a hero is disarmed, all non-ultimate ability cooldowns and mana costs are halved and the hero must continue using spells on the closest hero to them until they run out of mana, die, or all spells are on cooldown.

Playstyle

Braxton is a meant to be played as a safelane carry: His abilities and stats allow for strong physical damage, while also providing some measure of utility.

Braxton has three main combos with his abilities:

1. He can use Crazed Rush on himself, which will make him charge the nearest hero and cast Valiant Assault and Crazed Rush as many times as possible for the duration. In addition he will be disarmed, but Valiant Assault will allow him to deal almost all his regular damage, as well as slowing the enemy and providing significant status and magic resistance. This combo should also allow for multiple casts of Valiant Assault and Crazed Rush due to the latter's cooldown and mana reduction.

2. The second combo available is to cast Valiant Assault on yourself, then Crazed Rush on a nearby ally, causing them to spam all their abilities on Braxton, which will help them by lowering costs and cooldowns, and it will help you by gaining bonuses to Valiant Assault if you have used already. (This works particularly well with heroes with lots of low cooldown spells, or heroes with one long cooldown non-ultimate spell) Oracle, Lone Druid, and Terroblade come to mind as being particularly good with this combo.

3. The final combo involves using Crazed Rush on an enemy who is closer to you than anyone else. This will admittedly increase their spellcasting prowess for the duration, but that is fine because with Valiant Assault, you gain magic and status resistance, to be able to survive and move. In addition the more spells they cast at you the better valiant assault becomes, and they may waste all their spells on you by not using them where and when they want to, and on the wrong target. Also similarly to Berserker's Call this effect essentially disables an enemy almost completely for the duration, giving you strong lockdown, and keeping them in range for your passives and auto-attacks.

I think you might want to take a look at numbers. Do a little math with Q, E, and R. You would give allied strength heroes like 4000+ extra HP.

Braxton's Agility at 25 is 68.9, his base damage is 23, his ultimate provides 200 damage, and his Q gives him 80% more damage (not counting spells being cast on him). With E he gives 36% of that number in primary attribute to allies. For strength heroes that's 22.5 extra HP per point.

22.5(0.36((68.9+23+200) + 0.8(68.9+23+200))) = 22.5(0.36(291 + 232.8)) = 22.5(0.36(523.8)) = 22.5(188.5) = 4,242

Maybe my math is off or there is some kind of restriction you have on the skills that I missed but it seems far too strong.

As for the skills themselves, I'm mostly worried about W being used to grief allies. Whether you cast it on allies to get them killed or on enemies near your supports to get them killed it feels like a lot of people would use the skill to be toxic. And skills that enabled toxicity tend to be a little anti-fun.

Thank you for the input, I think you may have misunderstood the Q however, which is my fault for not making it clear. The 80 percent is not amplifying his damage its doing 80 percent OF his damage as physical damage from the spell, sorry if that was confusing. It was put in to allow Braxton to continue "right clicking" while under the effects of his W but it does not increase his damage in any way, in fact it reduces it by a small amount as it is a percentage of it. I was inspired by swashbuckle which does physical damage but in an ability form, and in some ways the damage component of the Q is like one instance of swashbuckle instead of four. As for the the W I think you may be right, and in that case perhaps it should be changed to only work on Braxton himself and enemies, to prevent this. In addition I think the short duration of the W and its disarm effect will prevent it from being used as an effective griefing tool, especially compared to other abilities such as winter's curse, toss, and meat hook or even relocate and recall. Thank you for the advice and for reading the concept!
