ive added the bottle in there, i still personally feel like i dont really need it mid since ive never really needed it per say, anytime i get a rune after lvl 4 i try and gank, but ive added it since some people might feel the need for it in their gameplay.

I have to agree with Tim (can I call you Tim?): you should get used to buy a Bottle on any mid, maybe the only exceptions being Invoker and Bloodseeker thanks to their in-lane sustainability. Tranquil Boots are **** on Heroes that don't play a support role anyway, and Phoenix is actually a very good rune ***** because of Icarus Dive. So why waste the opportunity to get easy runes and deny them to the other mid, and instead buy a pair of Boots that give you nothing unless you aren't hitting? To clarify:

1. I'd rather have a Bottle than a pair of Tranquil Boots. And actually, rushing Tranquils costs 1265 gold (Tango + Salve + Branch + Boots), while the Bottle rush is just 110 more gold (1375, considering you won't upgrade your Boots before the Urn): basically, you don't lose much and have better survivability. I personally think you can't win the mid lane without a Bottle unless you're Invoker, since you'll be harassed out of the lane a lot of times and will lose many last-hits while waiting for the HP regen of the Tranquils.

2. Yes, you're a rune ***** actually. Also, you can regen with Tranquils while ganking of course, but you can do the same with a Bottle, the only difference being it also works in lane. And if you're worried about the limited amount of charges of the Bottle, you can still Bottle crow or use the Urn of Shadows; you can even cast your ultimate if you want to gank with low HP.

yea you can spam spirits but you cant reliably lasthit.
you also have good rune control with icarus dive and can push the lane with spirits.

icarus doesnt benefit from runes that much as other heroes but that is the same case with other supports who can mid like shadow demon, skywrath and warlock.

honestly, ive built a bottle strat on phoenix before and yes it gives more stats to start and yes you get the regen and rune storage but that 650 you spend after you get to lane, is your tranquil boots finished and your urn half done. plus your not a rune *****, and with tranquil you can regen while heading to gank and regen on the way back, its not an instant advantage but over your laning and ganking phase its more viable. but if you harass like in the guide you should be safe to farm while the enemy hero crows his bottle back and forth while you dont need to since you just sit there spamming spirits and get that regen up baby

i personally really dislike going clarity salve with any hero mid.
why not go bottle rush build? it gives more stats and early tranquils wont really help you in the laning stage since they will be broken 100% of the time.
