Does getting soul booster or bloodstone help at all due to the improved max mana pool or is more advisable to go for different items such as ages or orchid?

Why do you say to avoid Eye of Skadi? It is one of the best items for him as the stats are absolutely AMAZING on him plus with orb walking you will get both the slow and the bonus damage from Arcane Orb. Eul's is a mediocre item on him since it gives you regen (which is wasted), very little Intelligence for the price (for only 400 more gold, you get +15 more intelligence, a more useful active and even some survivability), An active which is at best a weaker version on his Astral Prison and a little move speed (which is about the only REALLY useful thing about this item for him, but for 350 less gold you can have health regen, same intelligence and a more useful active for escapes and positioning). Aghanim's Scepter is one of the WORSE pickups for him if you plan on carrying him since it gives little intelligence and a very unnoticeable boost to his ultimate, it is a better pickup AFTER you have built a lot of Intelligence. Very okay guild in my opinion but could be so much better

I would like to add that OD counters Manta Style and illusions to a high degree, since his arcane orb deals 400 bonus damage to illusions, which does not include damage amplification most illusions take (meaning 1,200 bonus PURE damage against manta illusions and Phantom Lancer Illusions, vaporizing most illusions) and he is a direct counter to Phantom Lancer since he is fragile until late game, with your high mid game damage, you will easily kill him.

Right Now OD Needs a Justified Buff...... If Not sooner or later it will be outphased by newer heroes that are coming like ember, phoenix and a lot more..

problem with going astral mode.. is that if you go mid.. your chances of ganking is 0 (zero)
since u dont have any dps build up for that,
secondly your opponent will probably gank since lanning with u is inconvenient then it will make other lanes harder since you only have astral meaning u teleporting on other lanes to help on gank will do no good or just be waste of time.....

what OD needs is a good team that will carry OD throughout the game, until OD can secure items..
as much as possible be invisible throughout the game... which is so hard to do especially when they have invi heroes aka (nerub, bh, clinks, slark)

Last of all.. OD's Ult needs a BUFF..... it barely damages most heroes nowadays because of these updates on maps, they also tweak most of the heroes.. leaving OD in a bad spot for his ULT..

I understand a lot of players will say OD is OP when late.. but normally OD is being carried by his team so that he can get items, not necessarily OD is carrying the game...

If u want to learn OD.. you need to learn to die alot ( LIKE ALOT ALOT) and you will realize that OD is weak right now and needs a buff....

Im a devoted OD player and right now it has become really hard to play OD in high level (20+) in DOTA2....

because of items and buffs that has been added on certains players.
but just keep hoping the will finally BUFF the OD sooner or Later.

Your Q is still considered a spell so BKB and other magic immunity completely cancels it out. The kind of damage (magical, pure, physical) does not matter if you are magic immune it will just not work. No huge damage from arcane orb and ult=sad OD.

I would rush a bloodstone after getting your treads - it gives you enough hp and regen to stop you being a squishy intel hero - it also gives you a large mana pool boost, giving you an extra 120 damage to your arcane orbs by level 12 aprox. This makes your mid game dps huge.

Bloodstone isnt the best item on him. The hp boost is nice but he doesnt benefit from the mana regen or the small amount of hp regen since hes dead if he gets focused. The mana you get from bloodstone can easily be gotten with a mystic staff and int scales so much better on him than pure mana.
