I don't think monkey king bar would ever be the right use of your money unless your going up against a high evasion hero like PA because the only thing your illusions gain from it is the true strike; illusions cannot bash. Same goes for abyssal blade.
About the monkey thing I think its ultra situational ,If you are facing something such as panda/kotl/wr/pa
Personally I think mkb is a weak item choice. It can be useful for stopping the tp scrolls/channeling but why not get an abyssal (I suppose cuz you are ranged) and in terms of damage unless you have any of the cases mentioned above easy pick Daedalus.

Phantom Lancer's main problem is not money, but inventory space: by getting an item that your supports could pick up in 30-40 minutes you obstruct an inventory space for something that doesn't even give lifesteal to your illusions; it also gives you less benefits compared to, let's say, a Manta Style or Heart of Tarrasque and delays those core and post-core items which need to come online as soon as possible.
I understand. I have been trying the Radiance approach, and I like it. It can be farmed really quick and helps immensely. This guide has been helpful.
Just out of curiosity, why do a number of players not consider going Vlad's Offering? It provides LS, Armor, and MR. All very useful, especially in team fights.
First of all .Illusions without your presence DONT PROFIT from vlads aura.
2ndly little offerings on the hardest carry of dota 2 consider a luxury on its slot.
Yes its kinda convinient for farming on jungle and it gives you quite some lane dominance using the basilus but you can do the same with Aquila .

Yeah, its weird because I used Tranquil Boots + Soul Ring before I saw this guide. But the freaking Tranquil Boots nerf really messed this build up, making Power Treads the better boots. Without quick regen, Soul Ring is probably a bad plan too.
well tranquil is still good not broken good but good though.Tranquil can be used on the timing that you go back to block your creeps so you fight the next wave under tower. Those 12-15 seconds are enough for tranquil to heal your wounds. Also dont hesitate to use some lances for creeps.
