It is a good guide, but I would like to have the variables of the focus fire explored a bit, especially pre-scepter.

Pre-scepter you have a few options

Maelstrom (2800 gold) 24 dmg, 25 attack spd, and 25% chance for 120 magic dmg proc

Crystayls (2120 gold) 20% chance to get a 175% crit

Deso (3500 gold) 50 dmg, -7 armor reduction

now if you go maelstrom first after phase boots you get a decent farming item, with benefits to your focus fire. Crystayls gives you just a little below average damage with the reductions (depending on when you get points in focus fire vs when you have the item), so not advised. And finally desolator. It gives a good chunk of dmg and with the armor reduction hit prior to focus fire you can get away with doing a good amount of damage after lv 11 I assume (as the first point pre-scepter is just taking away too much damage). But the issue is that it is 800 more gold and more difficult to build into compared to maelstrom. Also with maelstrom the 900 chain radius is great in team fights. It really depends what kind of team you have, they have, and whether you are pushing down towers or team fighting / ganking.

I guess if you could show me the math (or something similar) about why deso is a better post phase pick than maelstrom I would really like to give it the +1. But from what i see the situations that would make deso be a better choice are very narrow. Still well written and a good guide for those who want a straightforward explanation.
