So this one guy named .. Tarien.. I guess.. Is a poor man. He lived with his family they work as a a farmer poor indeed. He got a sword as a heirloom from his father after he died at a war, its a bit.. ugly and broken but it will do for him. One day he and his brother/friend went to this one desert in search of a rare herb. The herb almost extinct since the appeareance of Tol'darot.
Tl'dr (abbreviated) was once a normal kimgdom. But then the denizens discovers magic a powerful weapon that they decided to develop in secret. But soon the secret is out and the other 6 great kingdoms, Falgar, Horith, Keral Dagir, Groll, Teragur (tarien's home), and Borig, went mad. They want tl'dr to destroy all magic but they refused. They then launched a full scale assault at tl'dr. Kaireth, the founder of magic and king of tl'dr, knowing the other 6 kingdoms will perish if he fought back, sealed away tl'dr underground with Great Gate of X dividing them. The armies was defeated as a result of the magic's effect but the survivors are more than if tl'dr fight back. The land was then barren and become a desert (used to be grasslands). The Great Gate of <Insert creative name here> is now simply a mirage at sandstorms, but the existence of tl'dr is still believed by everybody 450 years later.
Continuing, the desert was raging with sandstorm and they saw the gate. His friend/brother was killed by the gate's defence system but Tarien was taken away, its said that the gate will accept any 'chosen magic wielders' into their domain. He went to the tl'dr and sees that the kingdom is underground with fertile soil magicked by them. There were houses, rivers, grasses, farms, caves, hills, woods, etc. they were happy there.
tl;dr (pun intended) i havent think next part, but he learned magic, met some people, befriended his teacher (Horace, who is also the king) blah blah blah. Then the evil dragon Koron that God knows how it get down there comes and threatened the city. The dragon was usually fed with magic once every decade to prevent him frim attacking. The treaty is not over yet but the flying lizard wants to attack. He saod that their time of seclusion is approacing to an end. The citizens thinks that one of the politicians are conspiring with the dragon. They suspected a whole lot of people.
Then there was this earthquake followed by the dragon's roar. Tarien decides to solo the Koron's Lair raid (he was a DPS wtf) but he was helped by friends and <insert badass heroine name here>, Horace's wife. But horace appeared last second to save the dragon and he was apparently the villain. He went outside the gate and the dragon fly away to the city and wants to attack.
tl;dr they beat dragon, them human wizards fight animated rock thingy. Tarien kills Horace but the gate is unsealed. Some crazy man told Teragur's king of tl'dr reappearing. He sent an army and a courier to all other 4 kingdoms. (Btw kingdoms rise and fall. Once Horith is emperor, then defeated, then Groll fall to the attacks of savage races, then more) they then found the Great Gate (it aint an actual gate btw) and the armies of tl'dr.
situation:
poor lives with family is farmer. has fathers sword broken ugly (relevance?)
Lead in:
One day he and his brother/friend (character?) went to this one desert in search of a rare herb. The herb almost extinct since the appeareance of Tol'darot.(relevance?)
background:
Tl'dr (abbreviated) was once a normal then they discover magic (How?). the other 6 great kingdoms, Falgar, Horith, Keral Dagir, Groll, Teragur (tarien's home), and Borig, went mad. They want tl'dr to destroy all magic (how?) but they refused. They then launched a full scale assault at tl'dr. (character?) revert story:
the desert was raging with sandstorm and they saw the gate. His friend/brother was killed by the gate's defence system but Tarien was taken away, its said that the gate will accept any 'chosen magic wielders' into their domain(where does it say this?). He went to the tl'dr and sees that the kingdom is underground with fertile soil magicked by them. There were houses, rivers, grasses, farms, caves, hills, woods, etc. they were happy there.
>> this bit here below. it doesnt fit in with the start.

so basically
poor boy find magic gate with friend, friend dies causing a crisis of personal nature(crisis of faith 1) and mental scars but he gets over them under the tutelage of a magic mentor who teaches him magic and then he settles into the world he was brought too and now its threatened by (antagonist 1) so he team up with (bunch of characters who fit generic stereotypes) to defeat (antagonist 1) then he experiences betrayal by mentor who is actually (antagonist 2) and then resolves to destroy both of them. (crisis of faith 2) then with the help of the friends he made along the way they overcome the evil (closing of arc 1)and vanquish it but as (curtain close) we see a new challenge arise from a previously forgotten area?(start of arc 2?)
that is actually a INCREDIBLY RICH slab to write on. the basics are there the story is very very sound. you have your 2 crisis of faith, your red herring antagonist and your group dynamic story arcs which are needed. you have your building arc and your breaking arc. and then when arc one finished you tied in arc two nicely.
Suggestions: add a love arc and maybe a connection to the sword and it all ties beautifully. :)
ty smuggles also some of them are like im going to think its just the basics.
also:
sword: its just an old and **** sword :p they are poor. also the sword will be like an enchanted sword and has magic powers like dispel, holy, flame, etc and be his ultimate weapon thingy
why they hate tl'dr: they think magic is demonic i guess? lets just say like a monkey who thinks fires are bad (which they are, but good in right hands)
backgrounds: i would make it some sort of a prologue thingy with old grandpa telling tales
love thing: ehh i never intended a love story with the main protagonist. just between Horace and his wife (which will rule after Horace's death btw)
next: since the other kingdoms still kept their hatred they are naturally on bad terms with tl' dr
holy ****... writing is complex.
..which i know already, and that is why i have resorted to this:
spoiler alert
plot twist! i was never writing. i THOUGHT about them. whenever im not doing anything i imagine the story and it all just happened there. i imagined the dragon attacking the town, i imagined the sandstorm, etc.
i imagined like dozens of stories over the years.
^^and its all coz im bad at writing. also since the laziness to write is strong.
