Pa's total evasion percentage will be,
[1-(0.65)x(0.75)]x100 = 51.25% chance to evade an attack.
Since backtrack only take place after all normal evasion are not triggered.
Normal evasion percentage = 35%
backtrack evasion percentage = 25%
So,
Normal evasion procs = 35%
Normal evasion failed, but backtrack procs = 65% x 25% = 16.25%
Both normal evasion and backtrack failed = 65% x 75% = 48.75%
Thus, Total chance to evade an attack = 35%+16.25% = 51.25%
Conclusion : Pa and void has the same total evasion percentage if they both have a Butterfly in their inventory.
What if there are 2 Butterfly?
Pa's total evasion percentage,
[1-(0.65)x(0.65)x(0.75)]x100 = 68.3125% chance to evade an attack.
Void's total evasion percentage,
Normal evasion percentage = [1-(0.65)x(0.65)]x100 = 57.75%
So,
Normal evasion procs = 57.75%
Normal evasion failed, but backtrack procs = 42.25% x 25% = 10.5625%
Both normal evasion and backtrack failed = 42.25% x 75% = 31.6875%
Thus, Total chance to evade an attack = 57.75%+10.5625% = 68.3125%
Conclusion : Stacking any evasion will have a diminishing effects, including backtrack.
backtrack is not an evasion, I don't know how it works in DotA 2 but its a triggered post-heal after an attack/nuke in DotA 1 (WC3), which means in DotA 1 if void has 1 hp, he will always die if he is attacked or nuked since heal cannot take place if he is dead.
+Rep for proving my Math is always right even when I mess up on the mechanics 8{3
Total evasion percentage = [ 1 - (1 - first source of evasion) x (1 - second source of evasion) ... x (1 - n-source of evasion)] x 100
Since backtrack only take place after all normal evasion are not triggered.
Normal evasion percentage = 35%
backtrack evasion percentage = 25%
So,
Normal evasion procs = 35%
Normal evasion failed, but backtrack procs = 65% x 25% = 16.25%
Both normal evasion and backtrack failed = 65% x 75% = 48.75%
Thus, Total chance to evade an attack = 35%+16% = 51.25%
Conclusion : Pa and void has the same total evasion percentage if they both have a butterfly in their inventory.
Sire,
If normal evasion has failed ,only bactrack will proc. But backtrack has one override that is if backtrack has prc'd the miss sign will not be shown.
Backtack is not an evasion source. IT IS A TRIGGERED PRE-HEAL FOR GODS SAKES READ THE BLOG PEOPLE!!! HE WONT DIE EVEN IF HES ON 1 HP AND TAKES DAMAGE ;)
to say that it heales what was evaded is an absurdity. Your mathematical calculations are credible but to compare evasion with backtrack is a blunder in my opinion.
that 51.25% chance takes into account a scenario where evasion and backtrack both proc'd
Consider this
Let probability of procing backtrack is P and that of evasion is Q. Then P and Q events are first of all mutually exclusive AND mutually dependant.
This means the probability to proc for being saved from an attack is 1
Then:
P + (1-P)Q - P*Q is the probability where they proc independant of each other.
You maths of eliminative methodolgy fails to factor in this event as it simply eradicates the option where both did not proc at all.
This is my opinion and i will be glad if someone proves me wrong beacuse that would mean this day i
learned something new.
On this day, you learned how to read a post in full 8{3
You quoted his mistake which i was pointing out
1-(.75*.65 +.25*.35)=41.25
the scenario where both procd is absurd (sigh!)
Defeat The empire!!! i Dare you :@
Nah man, we need concrete data to affirm the eliminative methodolgy as given by him and by me to prove which ones correct.
So, whos got Icefrog's Phone number?
So,
Normal evasion procs = 35%
Normal evasion failed, but Backtrack procs = 65% x 25% = 16.25%
Both normal evasion and Backtrack failed = 65% x 75% = 48.75%
Of course the "miss" won't shows up if normal evasion is not proc-ed.
Backtrack will only take place IF normal evasion failed right? ;)
I posted my Blog about Triggered Heals. Those who want to know about triggered heals go read it.
i read it!
Hence it is correct to conclude that if void were to be on 1 HP and take 10 HP damage:
Preheal before damage 1+10HP and HP after damage 11-10=1 HP xD
So,
Normal evasion procs = 35%
Normal evasion failed, but Backtrack procs = 65% x 25% = 16.25%
Both normal evasion and Backtrack failed = 65% x 75% = 48.75%
Of course the "miss" won't shows up if normal evasion is not proc-ed.
Backtrack will only take place IF normal evasion failed right? ;)
This is what Xyrus Wrote
"25% * 35% == 8.75% chance for both to Proc
25% * 65% == 16.25% chance for Backtrack to Proc
75% * 35% == 26.25% chance for Evasion to Proc
75% * 65% == 48.75% chance for neither to Proc
However Evasion proc chance is 35%- As quoted above.
Your math is wrong Xyrus. ( Why do i feel happy about it?)
Quoted:
You quoted his mistake which i was pointing out
1-(.75*.65 +.25*.35)=41.25
And i am wrong too i believe, because to bring an absurdity into the whole probability (0.35*0.25) would be wrong.
Mr. Locket Wins. You are commended. I have my doubts but my dounts are unfounded without full information.
The right way to look is as Mr locket did .
.35+ 0.75*.25= 0.5125
