it depends, the aura is really good but you need a visage or another hero who can really abuse the aura.
did you see that game with VP i believe? drow had the second lowest networth on the team and died EVERY teamfight, but the support visage had the highest networth in the game and was just wrecking fools. they won pretty easily even though the drow was absolutely useless apart from the aura.
she just kinda becomes a support after 25 minutes.
but i think she can be strong with some strats, C9 has shown that in the past.
also xboct is showing his mad skills again. when he doesnt become 4 he is hands down the best carry there is. he was the best player in TI3 together with mushi hands down.

Well teams don't really protect their Drow effectively. She's only viable as a carry is you go mass Force Staffs to get her out of trouble, otherwise she just gets focused down by mass blink initiation every game.
Also Drow item builds are pretty questionable. I mean Sange and Yasha Drow, really? And Blink Dagger achieves nothing in a pushing lineup, it's a pure pickoff item. I seriously think you need a forcestaff on Drow instead of blink, to get out of trouble when you get initiated on when pushinga tower and kite afterwards. And Manta Style core item, now that Drow illusions get the AGI, it's just so good in a push lineup, free harass on towers every cooldown and dissuades initiation.
Drow is perfectly legit late game, she just can't deal with blink daggers so she needs her team to save her *** when needed. I still have visions of fEEd-sama's Drow getting owned every teamfight and his team doing nothing about it.

that pretty much means she is not legit lategame. yes she does damage but that doesnt matter at all. i would give her a 6 if i would rate her lategame. so behind semi carries like bristle, huskar, SF and stuff like that.
and most players are getting manta now, but i could see loda still going S&Y every game.
I don't think you can really class this as the meta, given it's just standard play that's been true for a while. You use pick-offs to give you the safety to take objectives, be it taking a tower, taking Roshan, or just split-pushing and further farmer due to the fact you dissuade further fighting from the opponent. Forcing fights at this disadvantage is just a natural extension.
I don't think you can define it as the strat of the meta.
