would you link the characters after the golem because your getting rid of the creeps and guaranteeing your linking all enemy heroes? or before to utilize the extra 100 damage the golem does?
You have to link before casting your ult because it deals extra damage since the link.Instantly cast Upheaval to keep them in range for your golems to pound them to pulp and for your allies that lack disables(like Ursa for example).
It actually doesn't matter that much. The damage on your ult is only 100 damage, and it's going to be easier to stun them all and THEN Fatal Bonds than use Fatal Bonds and then try to stun them while they're all spread out.
Wherever possible you want to get those Fatal Bonds on first - you could up the damage from 100 to 240 to each unit hit with both, and more importantly magnify any other damage your team is doing.
As Atlas rightly points though, this is still pocket change late game. Generally you should still bonds first, but sometimes you just have to throw your ulti ASAP - for example if your team is in trouble, you've been focused and your health is very low, etc. Your ulti will buy you time to do bonds, even if the next thing you do is die, you've still made most of your contribution to a team fight.
Exactly as everyone said, You want to get Fatal Bonds off before you ultimate but there are scenarios where you can't get fatal bonds off on the target so you would have to cast ultimate first then fatal bonds then the curse.
Usually when i play warlock i just go carry warlock where i would ignore all other items and go straight for a scepter. I should have it by 10-13 minutes and just rock, curse and auto attack. they should be dead within 1-2 seconds. Obviously when ever you have ultimate show that you're a threat and push towers down. I'd like to "Waste" my ultimate if a single target appears near a tower and my creep wave is approaching by throwing it down on him and killing the individual and then focusing the tower as early money is good. 1 tower = 1000-1250~ gold depending if you get the last hit or not.
