Just from watching competitive recently and playing team matchmaking I am starting to feel like the hard cary is gone. If you have a hard cary the 5 man gank meta will crush its farm and even if they don't the team with out the cary will win the early/mid game.

Another question is the jungle dead?

I have not seen a Chen or Enchantress in ages. Enigma and Natures have also seemed to vanish. I believe this is because if a hero is in the jungle it will make the tri lane too weak. Even if the hero is Chen or Enchant who was a very active with ganks are uncommon now.
My lone druid starting items are 12 Iron wood branches, 6 for the hero and 6 for the bear. Even if the bear does not get stats more twigs are OP on any hero.

Semi-carries are popular right now because usually its a pushing or ganking strat and ends by 40min. Like Balanar as the main auto-attacker.

Both EG and VP (I think their who I'm thinking of) run Chen a lot. Most carries that are chosen now usually have some ability to do something early-mid game (Gyro for example). Prophet is quite common, for his global presence. Offensive tri-lanes seem to be less common now than they used to be, most often I see teams have a carry/farmer, a mid, 2 roaming & ganking supports, and a long laner/jungler (If they get shut out of lane they rotate to jungle). As for the super hard-carries (AM,Void) usually if they get picked early the other team will often just pick a push based lineup and knock down towers and threaten base before the opposing carry can get up enough items to really carry hard enough.

Agreed. Ever since the LGD / IG match up it seems the Eastern European scene has rediscovered the potential of Chen. I've seen him in or banned from a majority of games played. His early game presence gives a lot of pushing power.

As far as carries are concerned, we see our fair share. I could direct you to matches lately where Alchemist, Dragon Knight, Chaos Knight Phantom Lancer, and Anti-Mage all have made an appearance. However to answer your question on why it's not used most games... I would just reiterate what Zanerax said.

Because Naix and Juggernaut have been so successful on any trilane. Free BKBs are very strong.

I'd say yes and no. As everyone has been saying, there has been a shift in focus to early pushers, like Chen, and semi carries that are more versatile. That being said I still see pro teams run hard carries like Faceless or Alchemist. But there definitely is a shift going in the meta as we speak.
