I'm a Noob
I am totally and completely fine with being new to a game and trying to get better. I played SC2 for 2 years never reaching anything higher than Gold league. I played regularly because it was fun and very competitive, there's really nothing else like it 1v1 IMO.
Anyways, I got my Beta key a few weeks ago. Having never played LOL or DOTA before I was totally new to the scene. Generally lost I picked heroes like Drow, because she was pretty easy to learn. Then when people started saying why aren't you ganking, you should be fully farmed already....WHAT!? I'm just shooting these little dudes that are trying to knock down our tower what's wrong with that?
Getting Better
Just as with SC2, I realized that there were pro games and videos that I should probably watch to learn some very basic mechanics that could make me a better player. So I watched a few games started reading this forum regularly and started playing against BOTs to get a handle on the game. I still struggle with the roles of each player and when I should leave my lane and go gank a player or help team mate being ganked.
Having said that though, it seems like everyone in my public games thus far are totally unaware of all these things too. People are constantly arguing and confused. Is this really how this game works? People just yelling/blaming each other the whole game? Seems like Halo/COD on Xbox live at some points.
Moving Forward
How do I continue to get better? I have been random picking players in all picks situations, in order to get familiar with all the heroes. Which has been working out fairly well. I've found out I can play support/carry, but I cannot tank or initiate (at least not with Tiny or Tide). So, other than random picking and continuing to play the game is there something I can do to help?
Also, when a teammate (or multiple) players on your team are saying that you're a horrible Dota 2 player and they say you should uninstall Dota, they are just frustrated with you (though it is very hurtful). I've experienced really horrible comments saying foul language at me and so forth, but in all 1 game is time consuming and most people take the game really seriously. Just try not to die early in the game and play passively until you've learned how to play as the hero you're playing with well.
Alas, sometimes the reason why people have lost a game is because of the team and the lack of communication. Its teamwork that matters and sometimes there are people that are "2 cool for u". Its just easier to shrug off what mean players say and strive to get better.
and remember they only say mean things because they love you :D
Well a nice way to improve your Dota2-ing is by playing with people you know that won't rage at you for simple silly things. Usually these people that rage at you probably are pretty bad themselves, so no point listening in to them, right..? Anyway, as Nubtrain said, learn the basic mechanic of the game, like last-hitting, etc.
This will help you get started, and this.
Just don't let their yelling put you down, continue to play and don't bother about the know-it-alls, your bound to get better, with practice of course.

I'm not saying I'm against this, but I would suggest playing with randoms often. Playing only with the same group of people over and over can lead to stagnation. I've seen this with a particular group of friends in League of Legends. Simply put, they only played as a 5s group together. So when I split off and did my own thing, I started picking up on things they just weren't doing (proper team comp, warding, coordinating ganks, map awareness). This is just my opinion. Also, pro streams and pro videos are extremely useful for learning basic mechanics.
But when the person keeps doing it, sometimes even saying to me shut up because they are noobs (?), I get a little mad. I try to help but people dont listen? omg X_X
But just a hint: Try find a hero you love. I had Clinkz to Weaver for example, and now I know how play with every character in the game :)

I recommend watching pro-level games where casters teach along with their casting. You'll begin to understand better why some players chose this and that or did this not that. IMO playing allrandom every game is a good way to learn a variety of roles but if you want to master a certain role/hero then I recommend sticking to a few heroes in that role. Some heroes you just need to master everything like Invoker, Shadowfiend, Meepo, Pudge since these hero incorporate a lot of mechanics into their playstyle.
In any role, make goals to accomplish, if you're a carry try to get 50 creepscore as best as possible or if you're a support like Crystal Maiden make a goal to stack creeps and ward as much as possible. If you're an initiator or want to start a fight, grow big balls and jump into the action with a good spell like Windrunner's Shackleshot, Sven's Stormbolt, etc.
