How do giveaways disrespect guide writers?

It's a giveaway for everyone; it's for celebration and it's based on luck.

Think about it this way. When you were a kid, your parents threw you a birthday party for your birthday.

They bought cakes for everyone and you invited all your friends.

Now, would it be right for one of your friends to say, "Hey, I'm your best friend, therefore I deserve more cake?"

Of course not.

This is an event and the owners of the site wants to celebrate with everyone. Not only do they have a right to give away prizes to random people (it's their money, not ours), it is also fair and right for them to.

The idea behind the giveaway wasn't what bothered me, gift whoever if you think it's good for the site. It's just that during the giveaway the site was way more difficult to navigate since the Recent Discussions feed was flooded with a bunch of rather meaningless and disingenuous posts. I kinda wish there was the opposite of the "favorite" button in threads, like a "hide" button.

Anyway, I apologize for causing a disruption if that is what happened.

I can kind of see what people are complaining about when they talk about the people who show up just to win the contest.
